*Why Size Really matters – Consumer Research Study 2011

There are five key types of billboards in Australia: See what they look like in this section.

Spectaculars:

Dominant and impactful, spectacular billboards are greater than 50 metres squared. Located on main arterials and inner city locations, their sheer size provides maximum visibility and impact for campaigns to drive brand presence and status.

Supersites:

The industry standard for billboard signage, supersites are more than 40 metres square in size. Situated on main arterials, highways and freeways these impactful sites allow clients to rotate material from site to site and plan campaigns across multiple markets due to the standard sizing.

Super 8’s:

A scaled down version of the Supersite, Super 8’s are proportionally the same as their bigger cousin and are typically located along secondary arterials and provide a cost effective platform for both localised and national billboard campaigns.

24 sheet Posters:

One of the oldest billboard sizes, the 24 Sheet Poster, or 24’s, are most often located on secondary arterial roads, commercial areas and near train stations. 24’s are typically best suited to localised or targeted campaigns on a site by site basis or as packages to provide mass reach for national market based campaigns.

Portraits:

Often referred to as Style Panels, Portrait billboards are a cost effective way of providing roadside coverage along inner city locations and retail precincts in high pedestrian or vehicular traffic areas. On average, more than 9 times the size of a bus shelter ad, these billboards provide greater impact and presence than their street furniture counterparts.
